Frequently asked questions

Does insulation always need replacing?
No. If contamination is localised, spot removal may be enough. Widespread droppings, urine saturation or compressed runways through the batts mean replacement is the sensible call.
What does attic restoration involve?
Removing contaminated insulation, sanitising and treating the space, neutralising odour and pheromone trails, then installing new insulation to the correct depth.
Why does the smell keep coming back in summer?
Heat drives residual odour out of contaminated material. If the smell returns on hot days after a removal, the nesting material or soiled insulation is probably still up there.
Will it help my energy bills?
Usually. Insulation that has been compressed, tunnelled through and pulled into nests is not performing at its rated value. Restoring depth restores performance.
How long does it take in your state?
Most residential attics are one to two days depending on square footage, clearance height and the volume of material being removed.
Do you seal the entry points at the same time?
Yes, and we recommend it. Restoring an attic without excluding what caused the damage is money spent twice.
